Soapnut quality...

Are all soapnuts the same? Absolutely not.
Soapnuts are a fruit. Ours are the happy organic kind. Other soapnuts are the wax kind.

In fact, we find that inferior soapnuts are very common in the marketplace.
Think of it this way: In the grocery store, some apples are fresh, organic, just-picked-from-the-orchard-down-the-road apples. Other apples are juiceless cardboard coated in wax.

Soapnuts are a fruit. Ours are the happy organic kind. Other soapnuts are the wax kind.

Since you may not have an eye for quality soapnuts yet, we'd like to offer a few pointers. Inferior soapnuts are:

  • Seeded  – The seed is approximately half of the weight of the fruit, and it has no cleaning abilities. So if you’re buying soapnuts with seeds, half of what you get is useless.
  • Very dry and crumbly  – Which means either they’re old or stored improperly. Either way, it means they’re not going to do very well getting your laundry clean.
  • Small and lightweight  – Both indicate a lesser amount of saponin, which means less washing power.
  • Moldy  – Besides being very bad for your laundry, they’re just gross.
  • Full of unwanted "extras"  – Soapnuts packaged overseas often contain extra dust, dirt, debris, and even stray hairs. Yuck!

LaundryTree Soapnuts are of the highest quality.

We have searched the world over (no, seriously, the world over) to find the best quality soapnuts, and those are the ones that you receive when you order from us. In order to be firmly in control of working conditions and the quality of our product, we package our soapnuts locally, and always inspect them thoroughly before you receive them.
