The three Soapnut Starter Packs will be given away to the people who leave our three most favorite comments. Fair warning: we have a soft spot for cleverness, style, and creativity. The 20 soapnut sample bags will be given away randomly, using random.org.

I recently attended the BlissDom conference in Nashville, TN. We were given these great swag bags and in the swag bag came Soap Nuts. I squealed when I saw them and my husband was all what are you squealing about, baby, and I was all Oh-Em-Gee, I got Soap Nuts.

I’d say Soapnuts are the fruits of the Sapindus Mukorossi tree, and they release a substance that allows you to wash stuff when it’s exposed to hot water.

Just put 3-5 soapnuts in a cotton bag, toss them into your washing machine, and wash away.

i just received the 4 sample bags i’d ordered in the mail last week and have been using them to wash EVERYTHING. i can’t believe how well those little nuts work in the wash! i think i’m even convincing my husband that we should opt to use them instead of detergent—well, not so much me convincing him as the clean and non-ammonia smelling cloth diapers. that’s about as convincing as you can get. they’ve also cleaned his dungy, poison-ivy covered arborist working clothes–now, THAT’s effective washing.
